Have Your Way in Me

"But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ ( Philippians 3:7)."

Writing was something that did not come to me easily. One of the things I abhored in grade school was writing because I frequently experienced "Writer's Block". It was so frustrating because it took me the longest time to complete an assignment. However, I had a desire to be able to articulate my thoughts in songs so prayed for it. "Have Your Way in Me" was one of the first songs I wrote after that prayer. I decided to feature that song on my EP project entitled, "Desires".

I remember writing that song in 2003 getting ready for school. Believe it or not, I was in my bathroom brushing my teeth humming when the words, "Lord, I give my all to you. Lovin me like you do...Have Your Way in Me. Lord, I take you at your word, giving my heart that's what you deserve, For you're the potter I am the clay, mold me have your way...have your way in me," came to me. At that time, I was a huge Faith Evans fan so her voice became an inspiration for the song.

During the seven year span of writing and actually recording the song, the tempo and some of the lyrics of the song have changed. However, the message is still the same. God's love for us is so insurmountable that it cannot be attained. I reflect on what He has done for me in life and He has kept me from so much, even when I made and chose the wrong (choice) path. He was so gracious to me. Because He loves me so, I don't mind surrendering to Him. Christ's love displayed on the cross of calvary is sufficient for me to say, "Lord, I surrender." He died for me so I want to live for Him.... Check out "Have Your Way in Me"
